Home Video DVD Recovery

Your memories may still be there.
That DVD may no longer play, copy, or convert — but that does not necessarily mean the moments recorded on it are gone. I help recover home videos from problem DVDs so families can see, hear, save, and share those memories again.

Family watching a recovered home video together

The disc isn’t what matters. What’s on it does.

Maybe it’s your parents’ wedding, your children when they were little, a relative you haven’t heard speak in years, a family vacation, birthday, recital, holiday, or an ordinary afternoon that became irreplaceable with time. When a DVD that once held those memories stops working, a failed copy attempt or unreadable-disc message can feel surprisingly final. Sometimes it isn’t.

If your DVD works normally, a conventional transfer service will probably be faster and cheaper. This service is intended for discs that already have a problem and contain video that matters enough to try to save.

How I Approach Recovery

Every damaged DVD is different. Depending on the problem, I may need to work around unreadable sectors, recover video from an incomplete or unfinalized disc, extract usable video outside the normal DVD structure, repair timing or audio problems, or salvage the readable portion of a recording.

01

Assess what can be read

I assess how the disc reads and whether usable video appears to remain.

02

Recover the video

I work through readable portions of the disc and extract as much usable video as the media allows.

Technical recovery in progress: careful extraction, timeline review, and audio synchronization are used to create the best recoverable result.

03

Repair what can be repaired

Where possible, I may correct timing issues, audio synchronization problems, damaged endings, or other playback issues.

04

Deliver the recovered file

You receive the recovered video as a digital file through a secure cloud download. USB delivery can be arranged if needed.

Common Problems

If the disc won’t play, freezes, skips, or won’t copy, I may be able to help.

A disc may freeze, skip, show read errors, lose audio, or fail during copying or conversion. Those symptoms do not automatically mean the underlying video is gone.

It won’t play

Your player or computer may show a blank disc, disc error, or fail to load the recording at all. That does not always mean the video itself is gone.

Technical recovery process placeholder

It freezes or skips

The video may stutter, freeze, lose audio, or stop before the end. Usable portions of the recording may still be recoverable.

It won’t copy or convert

A transfer kiosk, conversion program, or another service may reject the disc. I may be able to work with the video that remains readable.

Recovery is not always possible. Some discs are physically too damaged to recover completely, and others may yield only part of the recording. I will not promise something the disc cannot provide. The goal is to recover as much usable video as the media allows.
